fsck.ext3: Is a directory while trying to open/ [FAILED]


Urgent help needed!!!!!!!!!

when I boot my computer then i received below error message at checking filesystems
fsck.ext3: Is a directory while trying to open/ [FAILED]

***An error occured during the file system check
***Droping you to shell, the system ill reboot
***when ou leve the shell.
***warning -- SELinux is active
***Disabling security enforcement for system recovery.
***Run 'setenforce 1' to reenable

Give root Password for maintenance
(or type Control-D to Continue):

1) if I press Control-D the computer rebootss and same error message again

2) if I give the root passord, it goes to shell
(Repair file system)1#

I am new in linux, so detailed help would be really appreciated. Thankx in advance. looking to hear as soon as possible.

There is a problem with one of your devices in terms of filesystem data. In such cases you are dropped to a rescue shell. Control-D is the same as exiting the shell - i.e. it will reboot the system. If you have the root password, then you can log in and start repairing the filesystem. If your filesystem is a LVM volume, then you need to look up documentation for LVM handling (this can be quite complex), otherwise run fsck.ext3 on your problematic partition. Launch it with a piped 'yes' (like: yes | fsck.ext3 /dev/sda2) to allow for non-interactive fixes.
