fryed cd-rom drives yuk
i have just ordered mandrake 9.2 because what i've read it seems :newbie: friendly out of them all....i've tryed suse pro but had a lot of trouble trying to get it to dual boot with win xp....lost every thing on many ocassions...mandrake can work/resize NTFS drives .....but now i've read it frys your cd-rom...i have a LG DVD-Rom DRD816ob and a LITE-on LTR cd-rom should i unplug the LG DVD ROM and just use the other i dont see mine listed as working or not working in another thread in this forum....a real :newbie: just a the beginning of his linux journey....thanks for any help.....

Don't forget, they FIXED that problem and re-issued the ISOs with the fix on it. No need to worry at all. Also, DVD roms weren't affected, I believe. The page with known shitty drives will tell you. LG finally released a fix for the firmware anyhow. If you do encounter problems, you won't have to shell out another $30 for a new DVD rom.
