Frozen
Can anyone help me get out of this, being non tec, installaled ubuntu 9.10 on an old desktop pc , working fine for sometime.
Now starts to load and then, mouse, keyboard,and screen freeze,Disc drive will not read anything.

what was the last thing you did ?
did you edit some system file ?
did you install something ?
have you tried using the install cd/or dvd in rescue mode to read the error logs ?
or if you do not have it anymore
use "systemrescueCD"or "knoppix" or some other "live" cd and to read them

Though it is an old PC, there may be h/w problem..

Thanks for the reply
the last operation was the 60 second timed close down from Google Gmail.
I will be able to get a " knoppix Live Disc " to try later on.
