This morning I installed Slackware 8.0 on a 4 gig partition. Everything went fine and I finally configured XFree86 correclty.
I started X and got into Gnome, only to realize that I don't like it. I find KDE easier to use and a bit faster. Now I'd like to change my default X from Gnome to KDE, but I don't know how. ¬_¬
I'm also trying to change my keyboard layout...I know how to in KDE, but not in Gnome. I'll search around a bit more to see if I can find it...Thanks in advance.
At the command prompt, you can change the default window manager by typing: xwmconfig
That will allow you to choose from a few others also. If you are going back to KDE, I wouldn't worry about remapping any keys in Gnome then...
There are quite a few and I don't know a site that lists them all at the moment but for Slackware, if you have the #2/Extras CD, you have a few in there that you can install such as: Afterstep, IceWM, BlackBox, OpenMotif...They are in the contrib directory on the cd. WindowMaker is in slack also but not installed by default, you'd have to type wmaker.inst to do that and then you can use it also. That gives you at least 7. XFCE is another one you can install but have to download from www.xfce.com I believe.
