Fried or Uninstalled Cd drive while installing debian
Hello
Im a linux newbie and i had a hankering to install linux on my xp system to see what it was like so i decided to go with debian. So i burnt debian to a cd and put it into my cd drive. Now i went through the initial set-up screens and then i was in the process of scanning my cd drive and i just left it there and about 30 minutes later the scanning process was still at 75% so i decided that the installation was stuck and therefore hard booted my computer. now when i turned my computer on again, the computer said primary drive to boot from failed or something along those lines so it told me to push f1 to continue i did and it booted my os fine. (i believe it said this due to the fact that i had the bios set to boot from cd drive first) so my question is what did i do and how do i fix this? My pc is a dell dimension 3000.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
