freya installed with no root

I had installed freya 64 bit version the first time all worked fine til i connected a second monitor it just booted in a loop wasn't able to log in any more .I searched for 4 days on google wasn't able to find a solution .I just reinstalled it but now my root pass word (not the same like the first time ) plus I can't update it won't recognize my password as root plus when it was installed there is not root listing like before? Can any one help me?

with RH9 experience it looks like you have been using Linux since the Y2K bug WAS a really BIG problem and about to destroy the world

I wipe it out and reinstalled it but this time i used terminal update it from there plus add more repository to it.What i can see right now it is stable . He He till next time LOL

just seen my old setup will have to change it but was up all night will edit my old setup later
