freshclam doesn't update Clamtk, have run update in the GUI also?

If i run freshclam and get the updates before launching clamtk, then launch clamtk, clamtk says its virus database is not up to date so have to run the update from the GUI also, to get the same number of updates. I don't know why this is.
Example, freshclam reported updating to 23504 signatures. Then I launch clamtk, and it's saying it only has 23484 signatures and needs to update, when it completes, it then contains 23504 but its downloading them from the internet instead of getting them from freshclam.
Seems maybe the config is confused somewhere, two different locations for the updates?
Code:
# freshclam -v
Current working dir is /var/lib/clamav
Max retries == 3

Running freshclam from the command line is different than running the cron job, which may use a script with other command-line options. It looks like the clamav daemon is not being notified of the update, which could be caused by a clamd.conf file in a non-default location.

Thank you AwesomeMachine,
This may have been a pre-mature post on my part. I found that over the years I had installed (or re-installed) clamtk from different repositories and failed to follow up with some house-cleaning. You are correct
Quote:
clamd.conf file in a non-default location.
I nuked all instances of clam (clamav, clamtk, clamsmtp, thunar-sendto-clam) from pc including the packages, did clean install of those 4 and now is working as it should. I took that approach because, the house-cleaning needed to be done to remove confusion, and I was having hard time figuring out which files should stay and be edited to perform the update function correctly.

I'm glad it's working now.
