fresh mandrake 10.1 install...need kde


so i installed mandrake 10.1 from the 3 iso's they have for dl. can't get a desktop up but have the shell up and running.....need some advice on how to install kde....or i'm a retard and don't know how to start it.

pls help!

try typing startx in the console

thanks for the tip....but it didn't work.

is there a way to download the packages from the command line?

If you installed the KDE environment when installing mandrake you should be given a prompt at startup to choose what you want to use. I believe that unless you change some options KDE is the default. Are you sure it was correctly installed

This is not smart in any sense of the word. You need to create an unpriviledged user, and then try initiating X.
