fresh linux install


hello im trying to install linux from source off a lnx-bbc linux cd (cuse distros just ended up not working) and byo-linux (a instaruction mamuel for installing from source off another distro) says to install staicaly cuse theres no libarars installed yet but i was wondering if it was possible to install the libaries frist on a system with nothing installed but some folders, then install normaly, and can anyone tell me if theres a specific place to install certain things from (i was going to install everyhitng from usr/src) --thx

Yes you can do this, just dont format the partition when you do the regular install.

It really shouldn't mater where you install from, where you install to is whats important!
