Freeze on boot after updating Ubuntu distribution, how to troubleshoot
So I've decided to switch to Linux full-time yesterday, and of course something had to happen. I installed Ubuntu 12.10 freshly, and it ran great. Then I ran a batch of updates that Ubuntu had for me, and now Ubuntu won't boot. I tried going to Recovery Mode so I can see verbose boot, but it's been stopping at various points, lately on where it says that it's finding new USB devices.
I have no idea where to even start to troubleshoot. Some of the times I could get Ubuntu to offer me to get a shell prompt, or whatever it's called, but now it doesn't even boot to that in Recovery Mode.
What can I do at this point? Thanks!!
