FreeType2 question

I am trying to install directfb on my fedora machine. I get an error saying:
mkdgiff.c:55:22: error: ft2build.h: No such file or directory

From doing a little reading ft2build.h is a file of FreeType2 so do I have to install FreeType2? How can I find out if this is already installed on my machine or not?

Thanks
