FreeDOS, Win2000, Mandrake 10 Trio -- Possible?
 

Hello. I'm new to this board. How do you triple-boot between FreeDOS, Windows 2000, and Mandrake Linux 10? I would like to make a detailed plan before attempting this project. My computer has a 10 GB hard drive and no other internal drives (although I do have a 120GB USB drive). Any suggestions of how to attempt this? All help would be appreciated. Thanks.

install both windows and freedos first, and then jsut install linux into the free space after these, an installation program that comes with newbie distro's like mandrake or redhat will be able to handle this with minimal input from you, it should be really easy.

How would this setup be?

Partitions:
FreeDOS = 100 MB (FAT 16)
Windows 2000 = 4 GB (FAT 32)
Mandrake Linux 10 = 4 GB (nfs3, or whatever Linux uses)
Shared Data = 1.9 GB (FAT 16)

Total = 10 GB

I plan on installing the operating systems in the following order:
1. FreeDOS
2. Windows 2000
3. Mandrake Linux

Would this work or not? Thanks in advance.

That is the order that I would recommend. And it should work just fine. The sizes are good too. Although, you probably should make a linux swap partition.

Ur right. Funny how relevant it still is tho. I mean, except for the dates, and maybe Mandrake 10, this could have been posted last week.

It's funny how so many of the problems/questions I've seen with my tenue with Linux have been the same.

Maybe there needs to be a sticky on using the searching function of the forum.
