Free Guide

Oh dear

I am a hopeless case. I am trying to get the free guide and can't even manage that. It keeps asking for a job description. I have lied extensively to fill in the boxes as I am retired but it still won't work. I even tried using "ie tab" (which seems truly a bizarre thing to have to do!) which says it is sending me an e-mail. No I really do not think it is. I have waited half an hour and nowt has happened.

What Free Guide?

I think she means the Free Guide to Linux offered for registering here. I dimly recall seeing it advertised on the front page.

Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide

This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter. For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Click Here to receive this Complete Guide absolutely free.
I remember looking at it and deciding I wasn't interested.

Xstitcher, you can find a load of wonderful free guides at The Linux Documentation Project that are likely far superior to that.

About dot com also has some very nice Linux tutorials.

I am going to ask a Mod whether this should be moved to the LQ Suggestions and Feedback Forum.

It was posted in the community news letter for everyone to download if they wanted it.
