Red face Formatt Linux yay,


Hi all, learning linux i waisted a lot of space, compiling projects menny times and much more, and i want to formatt. The problem is I olny have my redhat linux 9 1 and 3 cd. I dont have the second cd, (it fell out of my book on the bus to skool) so i dont know if i need a new set of cds or if i can formatt/reinstall witht he stuff on my harddrive or maby first and third cd. What about downloading the second cd from somewhere? Oh well any help would be grand =]

I think you can do the install with only the first CD. The second and third CDs are extras.

Get the 2nd ISO here

[EDIT] Actually, it was Mandrake I was thinking of where you only need the 1st CD. I don't recall if you need the other two CDs with Red Hat. Sorry about that...

Why not just make uninstall ? If they don't have an uninstall just delete the files. If you installed as root usually under /usr/bin /usr/share etc.., if not then they usually end up in /usr/local/bin /usr/local/share/ etc... Don't delete the directories I mentioned though.

Then delete the source directories. It ain't windows you know

Or take the opportunity to try out another distro, If you like RedHat you could try Fedora.
