Force linux to boot in single processor mode

How do I force linux to boot in single processor mode?

What's your distribution? And why would you want to do that? Assuming you have a myltiprocessor, theer must be something really wrong so that you wish to use a single processor.

OS is RedHat Enterprise Server 3.0

I have an application that will not run in a multiprocessor environment.
