Forbidden error with Apache when accessing mounted folder.

Hello

I am dual botting fedora c3 and suse 9.1 right now, and I have my main webserver on suse. I want to mount that folder to fedora so that any changes will be mirrored on both drives. I mounted successfully, I changed the chown to apache:apache, and i chmoded to 755 the entire directory. However, as soon as I change the documentRoot command to the new folder (from /var/www/html to "/data1/maneesh/public_html") I get a forbidden error:

------------------
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
-----------------------

This only happense when I use the mounted folder. How do I get rid of this error?

Thanks

-Maneesh

have you created the appropriate <directory> entry for that folder in the apache main configuration file (I forget what it's called - I believe httpd.conf)?

Alternatively, if you allow the use of .htaccess files, you can probably just create one of those in the folder with the same entry.

Yes, I set up the directory and it still does not work. The thing is, when I change the DocumentRoot to be "/data1/maneesh/public_html" I get this error when restarting the server:

Error, DocumentRoot must point to a valid folder.

Apparently it isn't recognized my /data1 folder as a real folder. Why is this?
