Folders are locked

I just copied all my folders from my External Hard Drive.

Now when I go to where I put them, the folders are locked.

I did, chmod +rw <filename>
Which gave me access to clicking on the folder but not to the contents.

Need some help, I'll try to provide any information I have.

You need to do 'chmod -R +rw <Dirname>' to recursively change all the files within the directory

Didn't work, yet again it unlocked it. I cd'd into it in Konsole and I still can't gain access to the files.

I cd'd into it and ls'd, it listed the correct files that are in there.

Then when I try to access them (Just clicking on the folder), I get into the folder but it says access denied.

So sorry for the double post but I just want to let you know that I fixed it.

I used chown -R (new user with permission or whatever) <Directory name>

Worked like a charm, I'm hoping this helps other people.
