folder lock


Hello,
Please suggest an utility for locking folders.I am using CentOS-5.4 (64-bit).

I think what you mean is 'locking' them from other users?

Code:
chmod 700 foldername
should do the trick. That will block access for anyone but the owner. If you want some sort of password protection, there is a way to create and encrypted loop device, but that's more complicated...

thanks but i ma looking for password protection...can you suggest some package?

Nope... If you're serious about protecting the data, then you want aes encryption.
Check out this post about the dd command. Search the page for 'encrypted loop device'.
