Fluxbox Newbie

Hello all. So I gave into the hype and have been trying out fluxbox. I have to admit I'm not too impressed at the moment but I really have no idea what I'm doing. I have it up and running but I was just wondering if anyone knew of some places to help me configure fluxbox. I downloaded a new theme and untarred it but I don't know where it goes.

Also I was previously using KDE and I had the RHN applet running which told me when there were available updates. Can this be done in fluxbox? When I installed it I did:

./configure --enable-kde

Don't know if that has anything to do with it. Anyway I've seen a lot of cool screenshots for fluxbox but mine is kind of bland and I've gone through all the default themes that came with flux.

From my understanding fluxbox is highly configurable. Where can I find some info on how to configure it to my nees? I know I am asking a ton of questions here but this IS the newbie forum.

Thanks in advance.

I think it uses blackbox themes.

/usr/share/Blackbox directory
or /usr/local/share/Blackbox

configuration files in ~/.blackbox

you have to add themes to the stylesmenu file by yourself.

for the styles you dont really have to type them in manually...you can just put them in a directory, also for background if you just want to try out a background the 'bsetbg' command will do it.

I use Esetroot and link to a backgrounds directory where a symlink to a wallpaper lives titled linux.png and symlinked to whatever background I want. Then to change backgrounds, I just change what that file is symlinked to

Cool
