Tinkster 03-18-2010 12:32 PM

How many styles from the default flux distribution did you try?

t1nm@n 03-18-2010 12:39 PM

i have tried all.. the default have nothing like in the screenshots

Dude,
Go to this site :

http://customize.org/fluxbox

and see which style most resembles your desired style. I've seen a couple. Download the desired file, move it to your ~/.fluxbox/styles directory and extract it there. If you look in your Fluxbox Styles Menu the new style should be on there.

To achieve pseudo transparent tool bars and menus you may have to install feh and use fbsetbg to set your wallpaper. In the screenshot I see aterm as the terminal, you need to install this, but you can get away with using a transparent gnome-terminal. Aterm can easily be set to be transparent / menuless and borderless , just check the manpage.

even then the gentoo configuration and the style which the scrollbars are fixed.. i dont get that
and i visited customize.org the styles in the shot was from freshmeat.. but now they dont host themes.

Could you link me up with where you found the screen shot ?
Thanks

Well for starters you need a very dark background as you see in those two screenshots. This gives you a very different look pretty much right away. The next thing you will need to do is find out what theme they are using.

I think those two will yeild you close to what you are looking for.

It may help if you define exactly what you are wanting your desktop to look like?

Here is a site with some really good themes. http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/themes.php

I think that the file manager, Firefox etc use GTK themes.

linus72 03-18-2010 03:25 PM

I can hook you up dude

I think of mine, GreatestDebianLiveCD and 503box-chrome, has the most fluxbox styles, etc
my fluxbox is a hack of Hag Linux fluxbox
see this
http://linux.softpedia.com/progMoreB...isX-31789.html

and check out GRML and Hag
http://grml.org/

http://hag-linux.eu.org/

dig that

EDIT: I think I have that flux style in GDRCD/503box-chrome and I think GDRCD also has like 30 gkrellm themes
which is also in that screenshot

Hag linux has all the transparent stuff and additional toys
