fluxbox

Hi people...

I'm testing around to see if there's any window manager I prefer to gnome/kde... I stumbled onto Fluxbox and it looks promising, though I can't find any utility to configure its menu structure... Does anyone know if there is one, or do you really have to edit the menu file by hand?

Up until now I prefer Gnome for its looks and KDE for its easy configurability :) I'm basically adding users for each window manager so I can shop around a bit.

Anybody have any ideas about other window managers I could try? (I tried Window Maker but I really don't understand what to do with it... just 4 silly cubes on my desktop... weird thing)

Yes, you have to hand edit the menu. It's no big deal really. I've got an entry in my menu that loads up a text editor with the menu file so whenever I need to change the menu, it is just a click away.....

That is a big question. If I remember correctly this thread has loads of suggestions.

Actually, there is tool available called fluxconf that will give you a nice gui to edit things. I never used it but it looks pretty official.

If you like fluxbox, you may also like blackbox. From what I understand, fluxbox is based on and is an improvement on blackbox, but you may find that you like blackbox better than flux, who knows?
