Floppy "I/O error"!

When i try to copy a file from a floppy disk it mounts fine and i can see it and use it BUT when i try and copy it to desktop it always fails with the error message "I/O error" retry never works.

Also where should i put my work files that i would have put in My Documents in Windows. I am very unfamiliar to the archive system that Linux uses (im on FC1). Just a suitable file directory would do.

Do you mean copy a file from floppy to desktop??

You should put your work files in your home directory or within a folder within your home directory.

Nautilus is a file manager if your using that your probably using gnome, are you able to copy files from anywhere else to your desktop? If not it may be something to do with permissions
