floppy doent work ubuntu 12.04

I need help getting my floppy working. When I insert a floppy the light does not come on. If I go to "computer" and right click on the floppy, and mount, it sayes there is no media. If I use a formater it says the drive is not defined.

well it is not a bug
it is the NORM now

you can not buy a new computer with a 3.5 floppy drive
nor are any new 3.5 disks being made ( the last factory line went dark about 1.5 years ago)
what are in warehouses are it
there will never be any more made

for that reason 3.5 floppy drives are not even looked for
( were 8 in drives still looked for ??? no )
you need to run modprobe first to have the kernel even look for it
then manually mount it
