Flashplayer install

I'm trying to install the flashplayer plugin and the instructions say:

Uncompress install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz. A directory called install_flash_player_7_linux is created. Navigate to this directory.

I uncompressed it on my desktop,I'm afraid I dont know how to navigate to the directory.would it be something like /usr/jeff/desktop/flashplayer from a root command prompt.Thanks.I'm using mand 10.1 official BTW.

Your file is probably here from root:

/home/jeff/install_flash_player_7_linux
