Question Fix Grub!!!


OK so i have a Computer with windows vista and Ubuntu dual booted, the thing is i upgraded to win 7 and now the grub loader doesn't show up.
Ive tried all the usual fixes but i cant fix it all i need is a CD ore something to get me into the Linux install so i can forward some important emails

Any help appreciated,

Ahh so Windows 7 installed its own bootloader and made Ubuntu "disappear."

Try this:

Boot off of Ubuntu Live CD and run the following commands:

sudo grub
grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup (hd0)
grub> exit

After that, reboot the computer (take out the CD before it boots) and let us know what happens.

when i try sudo grub it says grub is not installed so i install it then i do that but it doesnt work

i would just like something to forward all my emails on to my other email address so i dont lose them then im getting rid of ubuntu (not my computer)

If you just want to boot Ubuntu to get files off it and then use windows, download EasyBCD to windows 7, read its documentation on the website so you know how to create an entry for Ubuntu to boot.
