Hi everyone,

I'm very interested in setting up a linux system. I already have a computer setup using Windows Xp, but I was thinking about running a dual boot.

What Linux software do I need? How can I download a shell appropriate for my hardware?

here's my setup:

Intel Core 2 Duo x6700
2 GB ddr2
MSI 975x Powered up edition

I downloaded Red Hat Linux and dual booted Linux with windows.
You can check "Linux Screenshots" on this web site to see which Linux distribution you like.

I am new to Linux also and trying to understand it.

I would advise trying Ubuntu as it is very new user friendly
