First thread

Hi all,
i am a newbie and i have a lot of questions to pose about this new and amazing world.
First of all i would you to know i am italian, so sorry if my english is not very good.
Ok! I can make some mistakes now.
The first thing i would like to know is the name of some sites or name of guides or anything you know (and probably used) to help me to get informations about what i am looking for.
I know there are man pages and how-to, but i think it's too early to understand wich option is the right one (sincerely i don't understand nothing on man pages), or to understand a lot of pages of how-to's when i need only the right command to do something. Does it exists a guide with the most popular or important commands with some examples in order to have a basic knowledge of Linux?
I think this could me let start with linux, so thank you in advance and give me all the suggestions you would like to have whrn you started to use Linux, ok?
Bye.
