first question


Hi all
i just started to deal with linux, i hav& i don't know how to start with, so here 2 questions that i need a help with :
1.how i can find a most common feature in a coloumn and count the lines that have this feature??
2.how i c count a a distance between 2 neighbour coloums and find the largest one?

the assignment is in biology so the coloums refer to data that related to DNA sequences !!

Could you edit your post so it is understandable? Please capitalize the word "I", and check your spelling.

This seems like homework. Don't expect someone to do your homework. If you show what you have tried, or explain how you plan to proceed, we can point you in the right direction.

You will need to explain what you mean by a feature, and the distance. Understanding a problem clearly and being able to explain the problem often is the first step toward a solution.
