First Attempt BasicLinux3-- Issue hd boot
I am new to linux and decided to start small..I got a computer...dx2 66mhz 48mg ram 400mg+ hd sb snd headland vid 256 downloaded bl3 used win to rw to floppys..put in my dx2 booted bl3 loaded to ram and I had a look..then from prompt did the following...fdisk /dev/hda...p ...seem 408 meg so did..n,p,1 enter +350m enter n,p,2 enter +50m then a,1 for boot..then t 2 82 for swap then w for write...mke2fs /dev/hda1 then mkswap /dev/hda2 then swapon then mount /dev/hda1 /hd then install-to-hd...ask ready..YES...installed ask for reboot then at lilo press cntrol type hd root=/dev/hda1 at prompt lilo -v..removed disk and reboot...cursor flashes will not boot hd...if I reboot with disk in and ctrl at lilo and type hd root=/dev/hda1 it will take me to prompt and d shows files on the drive...what is wrong...can I fix so pushing power button will allow boot direct to prompt...nicer to x...maby this distro is no good..thanks for input
