Firestarter Firewall Problem

I have a completely wireless Comcast cable broadband system. I have a Linksys router (which now doubles as my modem) and a Linksys adapter. I downloaded Ubuntu (my first Linux distro) last week, and before I configured my wireless system I connected my cable directly to my router (modem) in order to get on line so that I could configure everything else and download the Firestarter firewall. Everything worked just fine. But after I configured to my wireless network, when I checked on the Firestarter firewall I got this dialog box: A big red minus (-) sign that said "Failed to start the firewall. The device eth0 is not ready. Please check your network device and make sure your internet connection is active." Well, I am definitely on line with my wireless network. Why won't Firestarter recognize it? On Network Device Setup it says :Detected device(s): Unknown device (rausb1). Thanks you for any help you can suggest to me.

I guess it saved in the config that you have eth0 and should use wlan0 now instead. Do you see wlan0 as detected device?

Thank you for replying Mara. That seems to be the problem. They only apparently detect eth0. Do you have any idea how I can get them to detect my wireless wlan0?

Run Firestarter preferences. This screen seems to be the right one: http://www.fs-security.com/docs/preferences.php
You need to set up wlan0 as internet-connected.

The big problem is that when I click Preferences - Network Settings - detected device(s) the detected devices does not give me any choices. It merely says Detected Device(s): "unknown device(s) (rausb1)" There is no drop-down list to choose from. For some reason Firestarter doesn't detect my Comcast wireless system at all apparently. Therefore, I don't believe that I can use firestarter until it can detect it, perhaps in a future version. In other words I don't think that this problem is solvable at all at this time. However, I do thank you for your input anyway.

You may try to use the firewall wizard again (the one you used at the beginning). It's in Firewall menu.

I ran the firewall wizard again but to no avail. Firestarter just doesn't recognize my wireless system. It worked just fine when I connected to the router directly with a usb cable as a "wired" system. But I want my 3 computers to be completely wireless throughout the house. Since Ubuntu actually doesn't really NEED a firewall, so they say, I have decided to do without one until I can hook one up to my wireless system.
