Have Ubuntu 10.04 ; Ultimate Edition 2.7 The partition is split with XP Pro.
Connection is established by a modem and DSL line w/o a phone. It's WEP-
The Linksys wiresless adapter is how I am communicating with the modem.
I have used the Wizared and followed the instructions ; have continually gotten "the device etho is not ready" Or "the device pppo is not ready.
I realize I could build a firewall myself however; I only have a years experience with Ubuntu and Ultimate Ed and honestly don't know how. Also:
I do not see Network Mgr. anywhere in my Applications, Places, or System....
My next move is to visit ubuntuforums and the linuxjournal
I'm still learning and doing my best to focus-
This is frustrating!
I appreciate the aid you have given me; TY
Your wireless interface would likely be eth1 or wlan0. Eth0 commonly refers to the wired connection.
Assuming that the "eth0 is not ready" message comes from Firestarter, it would likely indicate that Firestarter needs to be pointed at the active interface, rather than at eth0, which is not being used, using the menu selections I outlined above.
