firefox won't work after installing javaplugins

Hello all,

after installing jave as root under /usr/locol or any othe directory i usually do the following
ln -l /usr/local/jave/../../../libjavaplugin and that would make a S link:
/usr/lib/firefox/firefox-installer/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
once thats done i restart firefox but i would see the hour glass and firefox will not come up unitll i remove the S link thats when i could open firefox again.

have anybody seen that before or now a solution for that ..
note: before i install jave i do : chmod a+x just in case if you r asking

Thanks

I have no errors when runing firfox from the terminal ..the java version is jre1.5.0.02.

firefox still works only if i remove the S link from the plugin folder..or just delete the whole jave folder where i installed jave..usually /usr/local

This is what i type to make the S link
[root@fc1 plugins]# ln -s /usr/local/java/jre1.5.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so

My libc version is "libc-2.3.2.so" if that helps

try symlinking to the other version of the plugin:
/usr/local/java/jre1.5.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so.
