Firefox - restore previous session

hi all, recently got a netbook- linpus linux lite v 1.0.13E, 512RAM, 8GB.Used it for 5 months mainly internet (WIFI at home). A couple of weeks ago, a got this message when I tried going on the internet (firefox- not sure which version)" Your last session closed unexpectedly. You can restore the tabs and windows from your previous session, or start a new session if you think the problem was related to a page you were viewing" I have been trying for the past month with no luck, the same message just keeps coming up! Help please..

You've been trying what? (new session or restore previous session?)

If you are trying the restore then try "new session".

I have tried both, no luck.

I usually just remove the .mozilla directory when Firefox gives me problems. Of course I make HTML backups of my bookmarks into my $HOME directory on a regular schedule. Then after I remove $HOME/.mozilla I can just restore my bookmarks from that file.

I am a beginner, I have no idea what your post means, I have requested the beginers guide, so will read through to try and understand how to do what you have suggested. Thanks.

What happens when you click the "restore previous session" and when you click on "start new session"?
for picking out your bookmarks read this: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...kmarks-848598/

Nothing happens-the dialog box just disappears.

Type firefox on your terminal and post the error messages here, in [CODE] tags only, the perhaps someone can help you.

It might be more obvious, how do you close Firefox?

On my netbook, it will ask if I want to save the pages when I close firefox. Is it possible you are just shutting down the netbook? If you just close the netbook when you are in firefox it will remember your previous pages everytime, and ask if you want to restore.
