you mean open another instance of firefox?
well i have same problem. it seems they only want a profile for one window at a time.
just open new links in tabs. much easier, and faster, too.

Yes, I use the New Window for now...

Just wondering what am I doing wrong or if this is working as intended. Both with Konquerdor and Mozilla this issue doesn't exist that's mainly why I'm asking

open in new window works fine for me.
i would suggest trying to open w/ tabs.
i prefer them over new windows, you can see everything you have open at the same time.

Create a script that looks something like this and run it to launch firefox:
Code:
#!/bin/bash

export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/opt/firefox
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME
url=$1; [ -z $url ] && url=about:blank
$MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/mozilla-xremote-client openURL($url) && exit 0
exec $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/firefox $url
Change /opt/firefox to whereever your firefox is installed. Mozilla in Redhat/Fedora uses a similar script as well.

with a firefox window already open and with focus on it, use "ctrl+n" keys to open new window without being asked for another profile. If you open from a Launcher or CL, it will ask for another profile. Netscape and Mozilla both do this and since Firefox is built from Mozilla you can't expect anything else.

It's a nuscance though.

here is another script to open a new window for linux. Just change FBDIR so its correct and save the script in the firebird folder. The its just to call the script as many times as you want. I made an icon calling the script.

The homepage does not apper using remote but thats not a problem for me.

Change "xfeDoCommand(openBrowser)" to "openURL($@,new-tab)" if you want tabs instead of windows.

#!/bin/bash

FBNUM=`ps -A | grep -c firefox-bin`
FBDIR=/usr/lib/firefox/

if [[ FBNUM -eq 0 ]]
then
$FBDIR/firefox &
else
$FBDIR/firefox -remote "xfeDoCommand(openBrowser)" &
fi
fi
