I've had no luck tryiing to get firefox and kmail to communicate. I think I've looked at every entry on every forum regarding this.
I've installed mozex and entered the command
kontact-module kmail -s %s -c %c --body %b %a
into mozex preferences as directed and ensured that kmail is set as my default mail client. However when I click on a mail link I get an error message:
mozex error: send mail (mailto): cannot run executable 'kontact-module' (args:kmail,-s,,-c,,--body<mail address>): [Exeption... "Component returned failure code 0x80520001 (NS_ERROR_UNRECOGNISED_PATH)[nsLOcalFile.initWithPath]"nsresult:"0x80520001
(NS_ERROR_UNRECOGNISED_PATH)"location:"JS frame::
chrome://mozex/content/mozex.js ::mozexRunProgram :: line 737" data: no]
Which is utterly meaningless to me. If anyone out there understands this and can give me some advice (in laymans term!) I'd be very grateful.
I've been looking too. It seems Firefox wants to open Evolution by default. I uninstalled Evolutiooon hoping that some type of config box would show up, but alas, no. I've been to Firefox support and that hasn't panned out yet either.
This guy has a script to the perfect solution. All I had to do is change the location of my kmail executable (Go Slack) and join the last two lines together and everything worked like a charm.
I'd given up on firefox for various reasons, but I'm back using it in Kubuntu (having ditched Mandriva) and the last solution to the mailto problem works!
