firefox is taking too much time to respond

Hi,
i am using fedora8.My problem is while opening Firefox,it is taking too much time...nearly 5 minutes..While checking at the system monitor,it shows that both the processes-bin and Firefox are sleeping.Even killing and reopening is not solving the problem.My system is acer-4710z laptop.waiting for a positive reply...
