firefox...
Hi again,
I also have a question about firefox. I have installed it in a directory that I have read/write access. when I load the app as a user the theme is very white. When I launch the app as root the theme is a correct beige(?). any ideas on how to correct this? I know the info here is very generic, but hey I'm new. If you need any other info let me know. Thanks -Me |
the read-write access shouldn't matter as firefox creates a directory in your home folder named .mozilla/firefox. try deleting this directory (just the firefox portion not the entire .mozilla folder) and starting it up again.

You do not have to place firefox in a directory that you can read and write. I placed firefox in /usr/local which a user can not write to, but a user can read and execute. Firefox should have made a directory in ~/.mozilla. The ~/ is the home directory variable and .mozilla is a hidden directory. All your settings for Firefox should be under ~/.mozilla/firefox.
Explain the steps that you did to install Firefox. |
My first install was in the usr/local directory, like you, (installed as a root user) ran fine as root, but had a white theme as myself.
Removed firefox Second install was in my home directory (installed as myself) but with the same outcome. The install procedure was the firefox installer. I didn't do anything special thanks for the reply -Me |
