Finding version of XFree86

How can I find this? I need it to install the ATI proprietary drivers but their script doesn't work, saying I am either not running from a console or I am don't have permissions for the console. I ran it from Konsole so it should work. Is there any other place to look?

are you running it as root?

yes.

Were there install instructions? Where did you download them from?

from the ATI web site. There is a tutorial on this site, but it says to use the check.sh to check it. What version comes with slackware 10.1? btw, my internet trouble seems to have fixed itself. I think one of the tips someone here said seemed to have worked, even though they told me to give the output from those commands.

what video card?

i.of.the.storm 08-31-2005 09:21 PM

radeon 9200se, from powercolor or something. oh wait, i think slackware uses xorg.

there was also a .run file that seemed to have all of them or something, because it was the size of all of them combined, but it seems to open in kwrite instead of executing.
