Filtering Daemons list

How do i filter the daemoms list for just 1 letter and then turn off certain run levels for that daemon?

I am not sure what you mean by filter. And if you say what distribution you are using, you could get better help. For turning a service or daemon off on RHEL and clones on startup you could use chkconfig command. man chkconfig should give you more information.

Im using fedora 14, when i mean filter I meant instead of having a list of 100, just have the ones from that letter.
