Files burnt under W2K not visiblw

Hi,

I have spent some time searching support pages, but I haven't come across the problem I encountered in the past days. Hope somebody here can help me.

I recently installed Mandrake 10.0 on a new system. Everything worked fine, but I had to download the driver for my Nvidia card.

I downloaded and burnt the driver on a different system, running under WIndows 2000. When I try and open the driver in the command line or in mc of my Mandrake installation, the file is not visible.

I tried several settings for my cd burn program (Iso, Joliet), none of them helped. Also, I tried other files, but whatever I burn on cd - it is not visible in Linux, so I can't install the driver.

Any hints what I could try next?

Hi,

that's a quick reply :-)

Yes, I mounted the cdrom. The strange thing is: files on other cdroms can be read.
I also tried several cd burn programs...

My older cds were burnt under Windows 98 - so I wonder if it might have to do with the NTFS system of W2K

i heard something like that about Mandrake and LG a while ago.
Since i never used Mandrake, i can´t tell.....

Show us your fstab please ( want to know your mountpoints and devicenames ):
- Login as root and and switch to console or open a terminal
- type: cat /etc/fstab
- post what you see on your screen now ( the content of /etc/fstab )and we´ll have a look

solved

Hi,

Thanks a lot for all the replies.

A bit embarassing: I tried another cd burner and the problem was solved. %-)
I should have got rid of the old one some time ago...

But: the quick and friendly replies confirmed my decision to move to Linux: product is great and the community is great :-)
