file system errors in RH7.0
 

:confused: I finally got RH7.0 installed on my primary 1.2 Gig HD in normal mode with a secondary 20 Gig HD with WinME.

Its set to boot in graphical mode.

It booted the first time, after I installed it but then when I came to boot it again in the morning it died!

It started to go through all the usual processes then it said "file system hasn't been checked recently" "performing an automatic test"

Then when it gets to 100% of the test it says "found file sytem with errors" "try lba32 mode"

then it begins this fisk or fsk thing and says "perform a fsk/fisk check manaully" by entering your root password or hit Ctrl-D to terminate login?

Any help or information is appreciated! :newbie:

I gues that you are given an opportunity to enter your root password (set by you during installation), what happens when you do?
If you get logged in try to run e2fsck, an utility like scandisk to check check for errors.
You might have to specify wich drive and partitions to check. The drives are named hda-hdd for your motherboard located ide interface, in the following order from a to d:
*primary master
*primary slave
*secondary master
*secondary slave

You find them in the /dev directory. Then there is a numer representing wich partition on that disk to check, so e2fsck /dev/hda1 would be the first partition on primary master disk.

This might or might not solve your problems, post any errors here. Another problem might be with your lilo configuration for your disk. The error masseage says something about lba32 mode, what are the settings in you BIOS for the linux disk?
