File Sharing Linux and OS X

Hi,

I just Installed Suse 9.1 pro on a 4 year old P4 machine. My intention
is to set it up as a file server for my 2 Macs -running OS X 10.3.5, and
also use the it for email, internet and to learn Linux.

I don't want to use samba but I have no idea what software on linux
I can use to make file sharing work. If Im not mistaken apple uses AFP
or something. I'm not well versed in Linux and only installed it yesterday.
My only experience in Linux is with my router which runs Coyote Linux from a floppy.

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what packages, i need
to make this work, if its available on the Suse install disc or if not, where to download.
Also, point me to a website with a good how to in Linux and OSX filesharing and networking.

Thanks,

eddie

Apples have NFS capablity built in. So I'd use NFS - it's easy to setup and fine for a homenet.

It would be easiest to use YAST in Suse 9.1 to create an NFS share (server). Suse have a great manual if you get stiuck.

Not knowing anything about Apples, I can't say exactly how you mount the share, but I'm sure there's plenty of help available in the manual/google.
