Fijitsu Laptop Mobile 510 agpP

Please can anyone help with the following -

I have install Mandrake 10.0 on a Fijitsu mobile 510 agp laptop and all seems ok apart from two things (a) Modem installation (b) Sound

(a) On my desktop pc I used a 'Howto' obtained from the net which installed my Thompson modem no problem. I have now install Mandrake 10.0 on the above laptop exactly the same as the desktop pc. When I try to 'make' 'make install' the progame on the laptop I get the following -

"./configure: line 1398: flex: command not found - checking for flex - - lex cannot find output from lex"

I suspect that due to the small size of the Hd (5.5gb), on loading, Mandrake has only installed certain parts of the programe to save space.

If anyone could help me to identify the above .i.e - flex or perhaps point me in the right direction to fix the above then would be most grateful.

(b) Sound - that's a whole new ball game so will come back to that.

Thanks for reading this - regards - J

Hi! and Welcome to LinuxQuestions.org!

Search (on rpmfind.net) and thou shall find:
http://fr2.rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/ma...2mdk.i586.html

That package was for Mandrake 10.1, but it might work anyway. I am a RedHat/Fedora user myself, but I believe that there is a tool for adding packages from the installation CDs. On RedHat it's (from the Start menu) "System Settings" > "Packages". Look around a little in your start menu. When you find it, peek around a little in the "Programming tools" (or similar) section.

Good luck! Come back if that didn't help!

For Martin N -
just to let you know that the info you gave me worked a treat. Searched thru the Mandrake Control Centre Packages feature before downloading the link you sent, and actually found 'Flex' on my system, installed that ok and the 'make' 'make install' did it first time. So many thanks for that. Will have to post another question about the sound later this evening, perhaps you maybe able to help on that as well. In the meantime, very best wishes.
