Fedora Update broke wifi

Today after an Update network manager was missing from the Gnome3 panel and wifi was not working.

I installed kmod-wl and after restart the wifi is working now.

I want to know how to debug and find the cause of such problems if they happen again in future.

OS: Fedora 20 64 bit
Desktop Environment: Gnome 3
Below is the yum history info of the update.

first pay attention to the third party repos
they can be incompatible

i see
rpmfusion-free-updates -- might cause problems
koji-override -- might cause problems
the normal "updates"
"google-chrome" should not cause many problems , but might

is the yum plugin "priorities" installed and CONFIGURED !!!!!!!!
it is designed to keep incompatible repos from KILLING your install
but it has to be configured

Have you read through the fedora and redhat documentation ?
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...ide/index.html
the others are on the left window

not all guides get posted for new versions
you will need to look through the last few versions
