Fedora Login Problems


Hello im new to linux/fedora i have just installed Fedora 8 using Fedora-8-dvd-i386
the installation went ok no problems
then i rebooted to start the os for the first time
it came up with a black screen askin for login,
It didt give me the option to make an account during the installation so im not sure what to login with

can anyone help?

You appear to have started in console/terminal mode. You'll need to login as root, then create a normal user account using the command adduser (username) followed by passwd (username). Then type startx and use the newly created username and password to login.

loged in and all is good

got another issue for you now
how do i get connected to the internet?
im useing a wireless card

would be much appricated if you could help me out on this one

I don't use wireless. I can give you rough instructions on where to go and what to do, should this fail then give it some time I'm sure better advice/instructions will be posted. Here goes: System > Administration > Services make sure the following are running networkmanager & networkmanagerdispatch. If they are not running put a tick mark against them and select restart. If all is well you should see an icon in your panel, click it to see wireless networks.
