fedora Linux as anti virus server for windows machines

Dear All

I want to install free open source anti-virus package in my fedora system, that can be auto update online. so that I can scan to my other windows xp machines which are in a network, effectively.

OR

Is it is possible that calm win or f-prot or any other open source Linux package is used for scanning network based windows xp, vista machines.

AND

Is it possible that I can connect my linux based machine on a gateway, and used its builtin firewall to protact our windows networked machines.
how can I configure Linux machine as firewall for my ms-based networked machines. any idea so plz share with me.

Thanks.

Regards.

You can use clamav, f-prot....
You can configure the linux machine as the gateway for your network, as firewall, proxy...
You can even configure it as mailserver for the windows clients, and scan all incoming mail for virusses.

I recommend using linux + open source antivirus only for mail scanning and web traffic scanning.
For windows protection make sure you buy a good antivirus like nod32 or kaspersky.

fedora is also NOT a good choice as a gateway server there are way tomany updates that can break thingk .the current kernel froze my system when it could not load the not yet installed nvidia driver.

I would install CentOS 5.3 and ClamAV to scan the lan and mail
