Please configure the network interface. .. p4p1 - Realtek Semiconduter co. ltd RTL-8139/8139c/8139c - 00:E1:1A:35:4A:58.. when i click conntinu... then it says failled to activate. stop installer. then i goes to loop. Same thing i tried at least ten time. but not able to complete that. Is there anyone can help me in this,. Please Thanks and Regads Md Ahsan Reza |
To avoid that problem you might want to plug your laptop to a hard wired connection to the router then do the installation.
keep in mind installation might take a while so you might have to leave it running for a while away from the reach of children. Good luck to you. |
Alternatively, you can skip downloading updates during installation. You would then have to update the system after installation.
|
I am also facing same problem and trying to continue installation.
hello nonamedotc, you mentioned to skip updates during installation, but how to skip. There is no option or anything. Can you reply if this is something can be done? From reading other forums, if custom layout is selected, which is in my case, fedora requires network to continue installation. when selecting cancel in network setup pop up, installer exited. I am behing a proxy firewall so even plugging in a cable isn't working. Tried to see to enter a proxy server details and didn't find. Is there anyway to continue installation? or force to use default partition layout to avoid network connection. |
The partition layout won't affect it's network requirement, it's when you choose the packages to install. If you select packages that aren't on the installation disk, it will need to connect to the internet to grab them.
|
Thanks suicidaleggroll. Sure I understand. But I am not went that far to select packages as part of installation. I am still at "Install boot loader" screen. And that's where I am forced to setup/connect network or else exiting installer.

I've never seen the network config screen when selecting the partitioning scheme though. |
snapshot when getting network issue

Please see attached "f16_install_network_issue.jpg" where in installation process getting network error. This issue is after writing disk partition layout and just at "Install boot loader on /dev/sda" page. If I cancel network configuration, installer exists. If I continue then it waits and waits cursor circling. Btw, I am using Fedora16-i386-DVD.iso image and burned to DVD and installing from DVD. I expect installation to be done from DVD but that isn't the case. It is trying to get packages via network.

Yes, I am sure I didn't downloaded netinstall DVD. ISO image name is "Fedora-16-i386-DVD.iso" with size 3.54GB. I agree with you that there may be a bug with this image.
Is there any specific file (or contents) should I can check in the image or on DVD to confirm whether it is regular DVD install or netinstall? |
It is not netinstall image if it is 3.5 GB. Did you check the sha256sum of the downloaded image (not on the CD)? Here is some information. The only thing that comes to my mind now, is to download another image (from a different server), compare the sha256sum and burn it to a DVD and try installing ...
May be someone else has a better suggestion ... |
Right now I am planning to go with Live CD which is a different image. Will post if I get a chance to check your suggestion.
