Post Fedora Install from HD via LFS Live CD?

Hi,

If I can access a machine with an LFS Live CD, is there someway to place the images of Fedora (or even run the install program) within LFS?

Hi,

Are you trying to install Fedora? If so, then why don't you simply boot the first Fedora cd-rom and install from there? Why go through the extra step of the LFS boot?

Yeah I should have been more clear about that.

For some reason the ISO I burned of FC5 #1 doesn't want to boot. I'm not 100% sure why. Where can I read up on what makes a CD "bootable"? Like -- what files the BIOS looks for, and how it references them.

I am also a little confused as to why the Fedora instructions I have read don't point out that you need to burn an additional ISO from CD#1 (boot.iso) in order to boot and start the install process.

Hi,

I'm not sure where you can read up on the layout of a bootable CD. I would presume that it has a standard MBR which points to a "boot record", etc. Down at the BIOS level it dosen't make much sense to me for it to have extremely different code. I would presume that the lowest level sector read & write routines would need to be specific to the media, but once you are past that point everything else should mesh.

I don't know about the FC5 #1 disc, but I do know that both the FC3 and FC4 #1 discs boot fine. I have burned and used them.
