If you installed Fedora 2 just a few days ago, my opinion would be that that's a very bad idea. The latest version is 13
...you are ELEVEN versions behind. You don't say what crashed, but I doubt the entire box crashed...more likely, just the application or the desktop GUI, but you don't provide many details.
But it's hard to say exactly WHAT could be wrong from your post. You first say "Fedora 2", then "Fedora 12", then you mention RedHat Linux 5. All are different...and RedHat Linux 5 is ANCIENT, unless you mean RedHat ENTERPRISE
5, in which case you should only load it, if you're paying for support. Otherwise, load CentOS.
