Fedora Core server sleeping?
I built a Fedora Core 4 custom install on an IBM x346 rack mounted server. It seems it may be hibernating or sleeping after about 4 hours. When I came in this morning, I could ping it, but couldn't access its webpages or make a SSH connection. I couldn't get the server to respond or wake up by playing with the console mouse or keyboard (connected to a switch to manage other servers). The server was on as stated by the power LED. BIOS does not even have hibernate option I don't think..will double check (I assume because it is server hardware) I got it back up by powering off and back on again. Any ideas?

might be possible that fedora decided it was a laptop because of the hardware in the server. look at your power settings and see if theres any options to stop it suspending.
other than that i does seem a bit strange that its letting you ping it but not access any of the services. i know its a long shot but try disabling your screen saver. (if you are you running an X server). also have a look through your log files and see if theres any clues there just out of interest what server is it? one of the eServer series i'm guessing? |
